That’s right – James Cosmo is a ‘Game of Thrones’ alumni, appearing in the hit fantasy TV show until his character’s grizzly death in 2013. The father of Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), the Night Watch commander was referred to as Old Bear… and was previously the Lord of Bear Island in the North until he passed his title on to his son. He also shared plenty of screen time with Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) who was his personal steward and potential successor. And he was all round pretty cool, too.
Where Else Have I Seen Him? Where haven’t you seen him? James Cosmo is a British legend and has appeared in everything from ‘Highlander’ to ‘Silent Witness’. Some of his most famous projects include the 2016 adaptation of ‘Ben-Hur’ as well as the 1995 historical epic, ‘Braveheart’. He played Glaucus in the 2004 epic ‘Troy’ opposite Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom, and even suited up as Father Christmas in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’.

Any Upcoming Projects? After starring as Mr. Renton in the original ‘Trainspotting’, it looks as though James Cosmo is set to reprise the role in Danny Boyle’s upcoming sequel, ‘T2: Trainspotting’. He’s also signed on for the role of Inspector Collins in ‘The Ten Bells’ – a period crime drama set in 1888 London.
Oh, and you can catch him in Celebrity Big Brother, too.
“I wouldn’t say I’m scared about going into the house,” he said on entering the Big Brother house. “One of the things that I’ll miss is listening to Eminem.”
“I’m in here for an experience,” he continued. “I hope I’m going to enjoy it and that’s it. Game, set, match and nothing else.”
Will he do well in the Big Brother house? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. Either way, you should probably catch some of his film and TV appearances. He’s been in some pretty awesome stuff.
