Welcome to the Camaro ZL1, the latest iteration of Chevy's sixth-generation Camaro, a car that has impressed us at every turn. Smaller, lighter and sharper than the previous model, Gen 6 came out swinging in 2015, facing off against a similarly reborn Mustang and, in the eyes of many, coming out ahead.

Chevrolet has followed that up with the predictable bevy of editions since, but now it's time for the big boy. It's the $63,435 Camaro ZL1, and this year it's rolling with 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque courtesy of the supercharged, 6.2-liter LT4 V8.

Roadshow Automobiles Volvo 2017 Volvo V60 Cross Country

Volvo's stunning XC90 SUV and S90 sedan leave many of its older cars, like this V60 Cross Country, in a somewhat uncomfortable place. These cars are a link to earlier days for Volvo, remnants of its Ford ownership and somewhat more humble styling. They're still great machines, but driving one you're left wondering just how long it'll be before they, too, are reborn into the same, classier look and performance of Gothenberg's latest.

 

2017 Toyota RAV4 review:

THE GOOD

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 SE offers a more dynamic drive character in this normally sterile class. More aggressive looks thanks to the exclusive SE styling touches make the RAV4 visually appealing. Good power and fuel efficiency from 2.5-liter engine.

THE BAD

The SE's sport suspension provides a firmer ride quality that may turn off some customers. In our drives, a rattle from the left B-pillar would annoyingly come and go. The RAV4's Infotainment system doesn't offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto capabilities.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Those who need the practicality of a compact crossover but don't want a drab-looking or drab-driving vehicle should put the RAV4 SE on their "must drive" list.

New look, improved performance for the road-going rally car

Hot off the heels of its all-new 2017 Impreza sedan and hatchback, Subaru has thrown a whole host of updates at the Impreza's performance variants, the WRX and WRX STI.

Both models feature light updates to the front fascia. The headlights look a bit slimmer alongside a new grille and a larger lower air dam. The higher-end WRX Limited and the STI both add LED headlights that move in conjunction with the steering wheel. All WRX and STI models now come with roof rack mounting brackets, because that's the Subaru lifestyle, yo.

 

Bosch puts cybersecurity first with keyless entry, central gateway

Cars are already computerized out the wazoo, but the next generation of connected cars will present plenty of opportunities for digital malcontents to compromise car systems. Bosch, a supplier for a wide variety of automakers, thinks it has solutions to this problem at its CES 2017 stand.

Keyless entry and start is already a popular option for many cars, but when it comes to new types of car-sharing schemes and moving the key to the smartphone, there are plenty of concerns about how secure a system like this could be.
